Kolkata, Aug. 24 -- A class one student was reportedly bitten by a venomous snake inside a South Kolkata school on Monday morning, school authorities said.

"Some of his classmates alerted the teachers that he was bitten by a snake. The teacher-in-charge of the morning section wasted no time and rushed him to the SSKM hospital (less than two kilometres away). He was admitted. The doctors said it was a venomous snake, and he was given anti-venom. He is doing fine now," said Raja Dey, headmaster of Mitra Institution in Bhabanipur.

The student, identified as Dipra Pal, was admitted to the SSKM hospital and given anti-venom injection.
