Six missing after boat capsizes in Yamuna: police
KANPUR/LUCKNOW, May 7 -- Six people have been reported missing after a boat capsized in the Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur on Wednesday, police said.
According to officials familiar with the matter, the victims were returning from a wedding when the boat lost balance midstream and sank around 7pm. "It was carrying about 10 people, most of them children aged between 5 and 11," an official added.
Hamirpur superintendent of police Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said: "Efforts are underway to locate the missing."
Taking cognisance of the incident, chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed senior police officers and administration to ensure that relief and rescue operations are carried out on a war footing, the state government said in a statement. ht...
