Siang dam clash: 8 security personnel injured; 5 arrested
ITANAGAR, Oct. 6 -- More than eight security personnel were injured and five people, including two women, arrested following clashes over the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project, as the Arunachal Pradesh government on Monday appealed for peace and stepped up dialogue with stakeholders.
Siang SP Kamdam Sikom said that more than eight security personnel were injured in Saturday's clashes at Uggeng in Siang, while five people have been arrested.
The violence erupted amid continuing opposition to the Pre-Feasibility Report exercise for the proposed 11,000-MW multipurpose project on Siang river.
