New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- A series of short and intense spells of rain lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region through Saturday, with Delhi's base station, Safdarjung, recording 24.8mm in nine hours from 8.30am, according to the India Meteorological Department. The Met department has forecast similar weather for Sunday, saying most areas will receive light to moderate showers and certain isolated parts will record heavy rainfall. Weather experts said that the monsoon trough has moved closer to Delhi - although it still remains south of the Capital. Earlier, it was centred over central India. P5
