India, Oct. 6 -- Amid the ongoing tussle between the BJP and the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra over contesting the upcoming polls to five legislative council seats, Shiv Sena chief and deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Addressing a press conference later in the day, Shinde said that he had an hour-long discussion with the prime minister regarding the severe drought situation in the state and sought aid from the central government.

PM Modi sought details regarding water availability, agricultural conditions and fodder for livestock and assured the state of central support. "A team from the centre will also visit the state," Shinde told reporters.
