GUWAHATI, April 6 -- As Assam gets ready for voting to elect 126 new members to the state assembly on April 9, all eyes are on chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is hoping for a third consecutive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition of four parties, and state-Congress president, Gaurav Gogoi, who is leading the six-party alliance of opposition outfits. Sarma has three decades of electoral experience and has led many successful campaigns for the Congress and then BJP, after he switched sides in 2015.
