Seasoned Sarma vs assembly poll debutant Gogoi
GUWAHATI, April 6 -- As Assam gets ready for voting to elect 126 new members to the state assembly on April 9, all eyes are on chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is hoping for a third consecutive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition of four parties, and state-Congress president, Gaurav Gogoi, who is leading the six-party alliance of opposition outfits.
Sarma has three decades of electoral experience and has led many successful campaigns for the Congress and then BJP, after he switched sides in 2015. But since this is the first time he is entering the fray as a sitting CM, there's a lot at stake for the 57-year-old.
