SC stays T'gana HC order of protection from arrest to Khera
Bengaluru, April 16 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the interim protection from arrest granted to Congress leader Pawan Khera in connection with an FIR filed by the Assam Police over allegations aired by him that chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, held multiple foreign passports.
A bench of justices JK Maheshwari and AS Chandurkar stayed the April 9 order passed by a single judge of the Telangana High Court that granted interim relief for one week to Khera. It clarified that the present order should not be considered as a hindrance to the Congress leader moving the appropriate court in Assam for anticipatory bail.
