New Delhi, Sept. 24 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Centre to inform it about the steps being taken to ensure social media intermediaries are held accountable for reporting and removing content relating to child sexual exploitation and abuse material (CSEAM) and the precautions to be taken if they fail to do so.

A bench of justices JB Pardiwala and K Vinod Chandran said the issue is "extremely serious" and reminded the Centre of its 2024 judgment which casts this obligation on social media intermediaries.
