Ludhiana, April 4 -- Two armed miscreants opened fire at a trader during a robbery attempt at his shop in New Madhopuri on Thursday night, leaving him injured, police said on Friday, adding that the assailants attacked another man with a sharp-edged weapon when he tried to intervene.

The incident took place in Street Number 18, where Mohammad Anjar Alam, who runs a money transfer facility under the name Sahil Telecom, was alone at his shop when the masked assailants arrived on a motorcycle.
