NEW DELHI, Sept. 15 -- Retired IAS officer Amit Khare has been appointed as secretary to the new Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan, according to an order issued by the department of personnel and training on Sunday.
Khare, a 1985-batch Jharkhand cadre officer, will serve on a contractual basis for three years in the rank and pay of a Government of India secretary, the order said.
The former bureaucrat has been serving as adviser to the Prime Minister since October 12, 2021, handling matters related to the social sector in the Prime Minister's Office.
He was also part of the core team that formulated and implemented the National Education Policy, 2020.
Khare has held several key positions in the central and the Jharkhand government.
