Punjab: Remember Partition horrors to ensure tragedy is never repeated, says Shekhawat
AMRITSAR/JALANDHAR, Aug. 15 -- Union minister of culture and tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Friday said the suffering and sacrifices endured by people during the Partition must be remembered to ensure that such a "horror" is never repeated, stressing the need to preserve the country's unity and harmony.
Speaking at an event marking the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium, Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, Shekhawat said a nation that does not know, understand or take pride in history can never progress.
