PIL challenges closure, proposed demolition of New Mahim municipal school
India, Aug. 28 -- A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed before the Bombay High Court on Wednesday challenging the closure and proposed demolition of the New Mahim Public Municipal School based on a December 2024 structural audit, although a subsequent independent structural audit found that the school building could be repaired and did not need to be demolished.
The petition alleges that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) acted arbitrarily while shutting down the school in May 2025.
