Phaltan doc suicide: Family demands rRs.r1 cr compensation, probe
India, Sept. 2 -- The family of the 27-year-old doctor from Sub-district Hospital in Phaltan, Satara, who attempted suicide in Sion last week following which he was admitted to Sion Hospital where he died on Monday, refused to claim his body until "justice was done".
The young doctor allegedly attempted suicide when Prasad Konde-Deshmukh, the personal assistant of a former minister Tanaji Sawant, purportedly harassed him when he refused him a fitness certificate as there were inconsistencies in his ECG report. The refusal led to a war of words, including physical violence against the now-deceased doctor by Konde-Deshmukh's bodyguard.
