PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 11 -- The Allahabad High Court has ordered the Uttar Pradesh government and the father of two women, who were illegally confined at their parental home over their decision to convert from Hinduism to Islam, to jointly pay them Rs.25 lakh compensation. The court said that the women were free to reside at any place and with any person of their choice, without interference from their father or anyone else. It also told their father to hand them over their passports, educational certificates, identity documents, bank passbooks, cheque books, conversion-related documents and belongings within seven days.
