Chandigarh, Aug. 12 -- Amid heightened security ahead of Independence Day, six city schools, Panjab University (PU) and multiple police stations received fresh bomb threats on Tuesday.

As the threats were received early in the morning, security personnel were able to carry out the searches before the establishments opened for the day. Nothing suspicious was found at any of the campuses, authorities confirmed.

According to information, the email, from persons claiming to be part of the Khalistan National Army, asked people not to send their children to schools for the I-Day celebrations on Saturday.
