India, Aug. 8 -- The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a public interest litigation (PIL) that sought an independent audit of Air India's safety practices and maintenance procedures in the wake of the June 2025 Ahmedabad plane crash, cautioning that one tragic incident should not become an occasion to single out the airline.
A bench of justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi told petitioner Narendra Kumar Goswami, a lawyer, that if the aim was to ensure passenger safety, the scope could not be confined to one carrier alone.
