PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 24 -- Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday said strict action would be taken against officials found responsible for waterlogging that disrupted normal life in several parts of Prayagraj. He said an inquiry had been ordered into the problem and apologised to residents who faced inconvenience.

Following a review meeting with senior officials from the district administration, Prayagraj Municipal Corporation and the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA), Maurya ordered a detailed inquiry and instructed agencies to draft a "foolproof" infrastructure plan designed to meet the city's needs for the next century.
