Odisha appoints acting dgp after selection stalled
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 15 -- The Odisha government on Friday appointed senior IPS officer Vinaytosh Mishra as acting director general of police after the Supreme Court on Friday directed the Union Public Service Commission to defer a meeting to select the state's next police chief, amid a challenge to the selection process.
Mishra, currently director general of the Crime Branch and Criminal Investigation Department, will hold additional charge as DGP after incumbent YB Khurania retires on August 16, the state government said in a statement.
