New Delhi, July 10 -- Reducing the need for daily injections for insulin-dependent diabetics, Novo Nordisk, Denmark-based leading healthcare company, launched the world's first once-weekly basal insulin in India on Thursday. Awiqli (generically known as insulin icodec) is the world's first once-weekly basal insulin, for adults with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes mellitus that tackles one of the biggest barriers to insulin therapy- fear of daily injections. The product will be available in the Indian market from July 10 (Friday), with a unit costing Rs.3.73. A standard insulin pen containing 70 units will cost around Rs.261 per week.rhythma kaul
