LUCKNOW, Aug. 13 -- The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) has no Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) faculty member at the professor level, and 376 of the total 957 sanctioned faculty positions are vacant. The information was shared by the institute in February this year in response to a Right to Information application filed by Gowd Kiran Kumar who claims to be national president of the All India OBC Students' Association (AIOBCSA). Kumar had filed the plea in January, seeking details of reservation implementation at the IIT. Of the 257 professors, 254 belong to the unreserved (UR) category and three belong to the OBC category.
