Jalandhar, Oct. 1 -- As normalcy returned to Lovely Professional University (LPU), Ashok Mittal, Rajya Sabha member and chancellor of the university, claimed that the entire incident had been executed in a well-planned manner.

On August 26, two waves of violence broke out following unverified reports alleging that an outsider had raped a female student. A masked mob vandalised university property, set fire to campus buildings, and torched police vehicles. Protesters threw stones and glass bottles at police officers before moving onto the Amritsar-Delhi National Highway (NH-44), blocking the major route for nearly 12 hours until traffic finally resumed after midnight.
