No coercive action till September 16 on eviction notice to Delhi Gymkhana Club, govt tells High Court
India, Sept. 4 -- No coercive action would be taken until September 16 regarding the eviction notice issued to the iconic Delhi Gymkhana Club (DGC), the government told the high court on Thursday.
"We will not take any action in a coercive manner till 16th," additional solicitor-general Chetan Sharma and standing counsel Ashish Dixit submitted before a bench of Justice Avneesh Jhingan.
The assurance came as the court is hearing an application for a stay on the June 29 notice issued to the club under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971, or the PP Act. Vijay Khurana, a club member, and the DGC Staff Welfare Association filed the plea.
