India, Aug. 7 -- Starting September 1, 2025, South Carolina will enforce a new Hands-Free and Distracted Driving Act, making it illegal for drivers to hold or support mobile devices while behind the wheel. With warnings issued for the first six months, fines and license penalties will begin from February 28, 2026.
The move came as South Carolina became the 33rd US state to adopt a hands-free law amid a growing push to curb distracted driving-related crashes across the country.
