Mussoorie, May 17 -- Residents of Uttarakhand's Mussoorie, along with stakeholders and experts on Sunday called for an urgent and comprehensive master plan to address the challenges faced by the hill station due to increased strain by rising tourist inflow and over-crowding.

Locals say the town's infrastructure has been pushed far beyond its sustainable carrying capacity, resulting in persistent traffic congestion, an acute parking shortage and illegal construction activities across the hill station.

Environmentalists and urban planners warn that without a long-term plan, the fragile ecology of the region could face irreversible damage.
