India, July 20 -- Around 300 people, led by activist Amit Bhatnagar who has been on an indefinite fast for 14 days in protest against alleged irregularities in compensation distribution for the Ken-Betwa River Link Project and other irrigation and power projects, were removed from the agitation site in Panna on Sunday. Police also detained protesters. Police justified the action, citing a safety risk from the rising level of Barana river as the protest was being staged beneath an under-construction bridge and partly in the river.
