India, July 19 -- Police and district officials on Sunday detained around 300 protesters in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district, ending a 14-day agitation led by local activist Amit Bhatnagar against alleged irregularities in compensation distribution for the Ken-Betwa River Linking Project and other irrigation and power projects in the region.

The protesters, led by Bhatnagar, who has been on a fast unto death for 14 days, were allegedly removed forcibly during the early hours of Sunday.
