India, Aug. 24 -- A 15-year-old girl was found dead near her residential building in Baramati on Sunday, a day after she was reported missing. Police are investigating the circumstances of her death and examining CCTV footage and other evidence.

The girl's father works as a personal assistant to Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) MLA Rohit Pawar. According to police officials, she left home on Saturday night. When she did not return late on, her family searched for her and informed the police.

At around 8.30 am on Sunday, she was found dead in a drain near her residence. Police sent the body for post-mortem at Baramati Medical College. The report is expected to establish the cause and manner of death.
