Shillong/Silchar, Aug. 23 -- Meghalaya and Assam on Saturday agreed on measures to ease tensions following the August 19 violence in Shillong, including safe movement of vehicles and tourists, dedicated helplines and a 48-hour window to facilitate the return of stranded people to Assam. The decisions followed a more than three-hour meeting in Guwahati between Meghalaya deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar and Assam Border Protection and Development Minister Atul Bora.
