India, Aug. 13 -- The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has revived the long-pending waste-to-energy (WtE) project at Kasan village in Manesar, building on groundwork and land-related steps reported earlier this year, with the civic body now proposing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a government-owned company to implement the facility.

The project, pending for nearly a decade, aims to process fresh municipal solid waste generated in Gurugram and Manesar and generate electricity, reducing the daily waste being sent to the Bandhwari landfill, which currently holds an estimated 16-17 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste. Biomining of the landfill is underway.
