MCD labels DMRC, agencies as bulk waste producers
New Delhi, April 17 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has directed agencies such as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Railway Board and the Delhi government's education department to prepare for implementing the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, classifying them as "bulk waste generators" (BWGs).
Under the rules, effective April 1, entities generating over 100 kg of waste daily or meeting specified thresholds must ensure waste segregation and on-site processing of wet waste.
"Under SWM Rules, 2026, BWGs are required to ensure source segregation. and process wet waste within their premises," the MCD said.
