Maternal grandparents link valid for SIR forms, says ECI
New Delhi, July 10 -- Following confusion over the rejection of voter enumeration forms due to identity verification through maternal grandparents, Delhi's chief electoral officer (CEO) on Thursday instructed the electoral registration offices (EROs), additional EROs and booth level officers (BLOs) across the Capital to accept forms citing maternal grandparents for identity mapping and also rectify earlier wrongful rejections.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) requires voters whose names are missing from the 2002 electoral rolls to establish progeny mapping - linking themselves to a parent or grandparent listed in that roll. The enumeration form allows this link through a father, mother, grandfather, or grandmother.
