Bhubaneswar, Oct. 16 -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested from Kalahandi district of Odisha for allegedly posing as a Maoist in a bid to extort his father of Rs.35 lakh, police officers aware of the details said on Wednesday. Ankush Agarwal allegedly wrote a letter to his father Dinesh Kumar Agarwal on October 6, claiming to be a Maoist and demanding Rs.35 lakh, police said, adding that he threatened in the letter that Dinesh's "family would be killed if the demand was not met".
