Major reshuffle in UP BJP unit before polls
Lucknow, June 26 -- The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced its long-pending organisational rejig in the poll-bound state, replacing all six regional presidents, showcasing increased representation for the OBCs and attempts to balance caste and regional equations while giving more prominence to eastern Uttar Pradesh, where the political challenge for the party was greater in the 2022 elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
With 32 new faces across 64 appointments, the new team, led by state chief Pankaj Chaudhary, includes 19 state vice presidents and eight general secretaries.
