India, April 4 -- The Los Angeles Lakers' playoff hopes took a hit on Friday after it was revealed that Luka Doncic will miss the remainder of the regular season with a left hamstring strain.
Doncic "has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain and will be out for the remainder of the regular season," the Lakers, who have five games left in the regular season, said in a statement. ESPN reported that Doncic, who leads the league in scoring, is "uncertain" for the playoffs.
A Grade 2 hamstring injury is classified as a partial muscle tear, more severe than a mild strain but not a complete rupture. Sports medicine experts indicate that such injuries typically require 4 to 8 weeks for a full return to competitive play.
