Kharge: PM using women's quota law for BJP's political gains
Silchar, April 7 -- Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday alleged that the implementation of the women's reservation law was deliberately delayed for nearly 30 months, and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using it for Bharatiya Janata Party's political gains in the upcoming assembly elections in five states.
Campaigning in Assam's Cachar district, Kharge said, "Modi ji kept this under his pillow for 30 months and has now suddenly started discussions, even seeking an additional Parliament session when states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam are heading into polls. If the intent was genuine, why was this not taken up earlier?" he said.
