India, Aug. 7 -- The Karnataka State Commission for Women (SCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the alleged rape of a 20-year-old nursing student from Kerala in a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Bengaluru and has urged the police to carry out an impartial probe.

In a letter addressed to the Director General of Police (DGP) MA Saleem, SCW chairperson Dr Nagalakshmi Choudhary asked the police to take swift action under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and to provide all necessary support to the survivor.
