India, Sept. 1 -- Malachi Toney, the Miami Hurricanes' freshman wide receiver, caught the eyes of the fans instantly after his debut against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday. He seemed an able support for Miami QB Carson Beck after catching a TD pass - the first in his career off Beck.

Amid that, interest in the 17-year-old surged, especially if he is related to Kadarius Toney, the former NFL wide receiver who played for the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and the New York Giants, who drafted him in the NFL in 2024. However, there is no known relationship between Kadarius Toney and the Hurricanes' freshman, Malachi Toney.
