India, Aug. 21 -- San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is set to play against the Los Angeles Chargers in Thursday night's preseason matchup, according to NFL's David Lombardi.

It marks Purdy's first preseason appearance of 2026 after he sat out San Francisco's opener against Tennessee.

Lombardi reported that Purdy, Mac Jones and Adrian Martinez were the 49ers' three quarterbacks available for the game. Purdy's appearance comes as San Francisco gives its starters a longer look ahead of the regular season.

Brock Purdy contract: $265 million deal

The quarterback agreed to a five-year, $265 million extension with the 49ers, making his preseason return one of the night's biggest storylines.
