New Delhi, March 25 -- The Indian economy had 79.2 million establishments in the informal sector outside agriculture and construction in 2025, according to the factsheet for the 2025 Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) published by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on Tuesday. These establishments employed 128.1 million workers and had a gross value added (GVA) of Rs.19,92,577 (19.92 lakh) crore in nominal terms. The 2025 ASUSE, conducted in January-December 2025, is the fourth full-fledged round of the survey. However, it is the first round to be conducted in a January-December cycle.
