India, June 14 -- An Indian-flagged mechanised sailing vessel, Virat 1, was involved in an incident off the coast of Oman, the Indian Embassy in Oman said on Sunday.

The vessel, which suffered engine failure, had 14 Indian crew members on board at the time of the incident. A rescue operation has been launched and the crew members have been transferred safely to a liferaft, the embassy said.

"The Mission has learnt of an incident involving an Indian Flagged Mechanised Sailing Vessel Virat 1, off the coast of Oman, reportedly embarked with 14 Indian crew," the Indian Embassy in Oman said in a post on X, adding, "search and rescue is being coordinated with the Omani authorities."
