India, Oct. 8 -- India is confident of achieving the target of 500 GW of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030, minister of new and renewable energy (MNRE) Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday at the curtain raiser of the eighth assembly of the International Solar Alliance.

Responding to a question on what would be India's update to its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), Joshi said India has already achieved one of its targets for the 2030 period - to attain about 50% cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources.
