India, June 5 -- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of economist Neelkanth Mishra as India's executive director (ED) at the World Bank headquarters for a tenure of three years. Mishra replaces Parameswaran Iyer, a 1981-batch IAS officer of the UP cadre, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday. The tenure of Iyer, who was appointed to the post in 2023, was also extended beyond June 19 until Mishra takes over the position.
