India, Oct. 9 -- Hong Kong was not my first choice for a holiday. I wanted fabulous beaches and sunshine. My husband wanted cold weather and mountains. A friend suggested Hong Kong in November; we checked the dates and booked a week.

By the time we walked out of our hotel and got our first proper look at the city, I knew I was going to love it. Skyscrapers, water, sunshine and hills in the distance, with people rushing around getting on with their day. I realised I am very much a city girl on holiday. Give me a new city to explore, plenty of places to eat and the freedom to get off the metro and walk around, and I am happy.

We spent seven days in Hong Kong, visiting theme parks, temples, neighbourhood cafes, shopping streets and Stanley...
