India, Oct. 12 -- Oscar-winning actor Diane Keaton, who passed away on October 11 at age 79, was remembered by those closest to her as "funny right up until the end" and devoted to the simple joys of life: her home, her family, and her dog.

A close friend of the actor told People that Keaton "lived exactly how she wanted to, which was on her own terms, surrounded by the people and things she really loved".
