HC seeks policy over prompt grant of relief
New Delhi, June 3 -- The Delhi high court has asked the Delhi government to examine the feasibility of formulating an appropriate policy for the expeditious grant of compensation in cases of death caused by incidents arising from the negligence of public authorities.
A bench of justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav in its May 29 verdict observed that the death of a family's sole breadwinner can leave dependants in severe financial and social distress, forcing them to endure hardship while pursuing compensation.
