HC rejects Ramakrishna plea in NSE co-location case
New Delhi, July 10 -- The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed former National Stock Exchange (NSE) Managing Director and CEO Chitra Ramakrishna's petition challenging the sanction granted by the Board of Directors to prosecute her under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the NSE co-location case.
A bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja held that the NSE performs a public duty and that Ramakrishna, by virtue of her position as its Managing Director and CEO , could not be separated from the functions discharged by the exchange. The court held that she performed duties in which the public at large has a significant interest.
