hc rejects plea challenging bail to ishrat jahan in 2020 riots case
New Delhi, April 25 -- The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed a petition by Delhi Police challenging the bail granted to former Congress councillor Ishrat Jahan in the February 2020 Delhi riots larger conspiracy case.
A bench of justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja noted that over four years had passed since bail was granted, with no violations reported. Hence, it declined to interfere with the order.
The bench said it has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case. Jahan was granted bail by the trial court in March 2022, following which the Delhi Police challenged it in the high court.
