HC grants bail to second convict in view of "extremely weak" evidence
India, Aug. 19 -- The Bombay high court on Tuesday suspended the life sentence handed down to Sachin Andure, convicted for the fatal shooting of anti-superstition activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar, in view of "extremely weak" evidence against him, and granted him bail during pendency of his appeal against the conviction.
There are "fair chances" of Andure getting acquitted in the appeal, the division bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice Ranjitsinha Bhonsale said while granting bail to the second convict in the case. The court had granted bail to his co-convict Sharad Kalaskar, in April this year.
