India, Aug. 23 -- Gurugram recorded three fresh dengue cases on Saturday, taking the district's tally to 29 this season, according to the health department's latest bulletin. Officials said the monsoon and stagnant water in low-lying areas could be contributing to the rise, prompting stepped-up surveillance and fever surveys.

The department collected 357 dengue samples on Saturday, taking the year's total to 6,848. No dengue-related death has been reported so far.

Rapid fever mass survey teams covered 10,267 houses on Saturday, taking the cumulative number surveyed this year to over 1.01 million. Teams also prepared 835 blood slides for malaria surveillance. Four malaria cases have been reported this year.
