India, Sept. 11 -- Seven cases of H1N1 or swine flu have surfaced in Gurugram between August 1 and September 9, health department officials said on Thursday.

Health officials attribute the rise in seasonal influenza cases, with H1N1 emerging as the predominant circulating strain, to post-monsoon conditions, high humidity, and poor ventilation across the National Capital Region (NCR).

According to data maintained by the Gurugram health department, 42 suspected samples collected at the Civil General Hospital (GH) in Gurugram during August 1 and Sept 9 yielded two positive results.
